Overview

White Water Rafting

The Sri Lankan-born rivers that flow through the wild forest are the ideal setting for white water rafting adventure. White water rafting is a challenging recreational activity and an exciting water sport. However, contrary to public belief, White Water Rafting is not a sport that requires great physical strength. White Water Rafting, usually practiced in white waters and other turbulent waters, brings a fascinating experience for water sports enthusiasts.

Experience white water rafting on the picturesque Kelani River, covering 5 main rapids and 4 smaller rapids. The distance covered is about 5 kilometers. The river and its surroundings will make you feel enchanted, with a memorable experience during your white water rafting tour with the Niwaduwa team.

Canyoning (Confidence Jumps and natural water stream slides)

A “Canyon” is defined as a deep gorge, or large valley with steep sides, which usually has a river flowing along the bottom. ‘Canyoning’ is simply the act of traveling along the bottom and is therefore also known as ‘gorge walking’. Canyoning can involve any combination of hiking, abseiling, cliff jumping, swimming, rafting, etc.

The leap of confidence takes place in seven beautiful natural rock pools. Activities include descending a 5 meter sloping waterfall to the natural rock pool below, certainly with all safety equipment.

  • Sliding down an inclined 5 meter waterfall with safety gear, into the rock pool
  • A confidence jump with safety to a beautiful natural rock pool
  • Swimming in the cool and clean waters of the rain forest

Water Fall Abseiling (Sadun Ella or Mannakethi Ella)

This activity gives you the opportunity to try abseiling in the wild waterfalls of Kithulgala. Climb up a tall slippery waterfall with just the rope between you and a fall into the abyss. Feel the thrill of riding that knife-sharp edge of danger. Get that feeling of deep satisfaction and triumph as you reach the bottom successfully. Enjoy all this under the best safety conditions as you encounter and conquer around  100 ft waterfall all done within a 3-4 hour time period for a group of 4 persons.

Belilena Cave Hike

Belilena Cave a historical place where evidence of prehistoric human presence as early as 32,000 years ago was recorded. In which the 12,000-year-old skeletal remains of the pre-historic ‘Balangoda Man’ was discovered by Paul E. P. Deraniyagala.  This is the ideal opportunity for an adventure in cave exploring in Sri Lanka.

Trek through the jungle (approximately 8 kilometers from Kitulgala) to reach this cave, to explore the famous Archeological Reserve, the Belilena Caves. In addition, these legendary caves have revealed artifacts (of bone and stone tools) as well as other fossils (such as Sambar Deer and Indian Muntjac) believed to be more than 32,000 years old.
